I love this icing since the beginning I made it. It tastes great and easy to make.
Make: 4 cups
4 cup (16 ounces) powdered sugar
3 tablespoons meringue powder
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 cup warm water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1. In a mixing bowl of stand mixer, sift powdered sugar, meringue powder and cream of tartar, stir to combine. Add warm water and vanilla extract
2. With paddle attachment, beat the sugar mixture on low speed until combined, about 1 minute. Increase speed to high and beat until the icing is very stiff, about 7 to 10 minutes.
FOR GLAZE CONSISTENCY: add 1/2 teaspoon of water on at a time, just until icing reaches a thick spoonable consistency.
Note: If not using immediately, cover bowl with a damp paper town; cover tightly with plastic wrap (icing will dry out quickly when exposed to air). Chill for up to 48 hours. Stir before using.
